Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has tasted disappointment in the Champions League for the first time, after Chelsea drew 2-2 with Juventus last night.

The current Champions will have known it was going to be a tough task, it was important that the Blues won if they were to be in the right frame of mind for retaining their title. It’s a certainty that the players are still hungry for more European glory.

It all started so well too, with recent signing Oscar scoring two football goals in as many minutes on his full debut.

The 20 year old Brazilian international was signed from International for a fee believed to be around £25million during this summer’s transfer frenzy. His first goal was deflected from a defender, but his second curled into the net beautifully. Di Matteo will not care how they hit the net, as long as they continued to do so.

Five minutes after Oscar’s second goal, Juventus’s Arturo Vidal pulled one back and from then on it was a bumpy ride for the London club hoping to repeat their success.

Nine minutes from time though it all went wrong with Quagliarella’s equaliser which ensured the points were shared.

Chelsea should have won, there’s no doubt about that, but take nothing away from Juventus who showed great determination and earned their draw.

Di Matteo will have hoped for a better start, although this game was probably the most difficult game out of a group that contains FC Nordsjaelland and Shakhtar Donetsk, although Shakhtar won their game last night, which puts pressure on Chelsea to score as many goals as possible in order to beat Juventus to the top of the group.

Chelsea’s start in the Premier league is currently much brighter, topping the table with 10 points from four games and are currently unbeaten.
