Poppies4Kits is working with support of the Royal British Legion to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.
After seeing the Premier League stars raise thousands by having their shirts embroidered with the poppy emblem, we thought it would be a fantastic idea if all youth clubs could follow the lead of the Premier League clubs and have poppies on their shirts. The problem we acknowledged, however, was that shirt embroidery is permanent whereas the Poppy Appeal usually lasts for roughly a month, with poppies being worn up to and including the 11th November.
Since launching in 2014, Poppies4Kits has seen unprecedented demand year on year with an increasing amount of Sunday League & junior teams wanting to show their support. Their concept is a simple one. Woven styled poppies with an adhesive stick on back, which means an easily applied self-adhesive woven patch that players can wear for a match or a couple of matches and remove afterwards. Even spectators can apply these poppies to their garments to show support for their team as well as an excellent cause.
The response we’ve had so far has been great, with interest from all different types of sport (and other sectors). So we’ve set ourselves a target of £10,000, but we’re hoping to smash this.
However, we need your help.
We’re spending the next few months promoting the idea and will have the poppies available in plenty of time for this year’s Remembrance Day with Remembrance Sunday being held on November 13th.
For now though, we need as much help as possible in promoting this campaign, so we ask you to order your poppy as soon as you can from Poppies4Kits.co.uk to make sure you receive it in time
And help us spread the word by following us on Twitter @Poppies4Kits and re-tweeting as much as possible using the hashtag #PeelStickPlay
Please also ask your Leagues to promote and support this great cause.
There’s a range of benefits to getting involved with their campaign which includes:
- Raising money for the Royal British Legion – Organising the annual Poppy Appeal, the Royal British Legion provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces community through raising money and awareness in the community. All profits made by Poppies4Kits is donated to directly to the Royal British Legion
- Raising awareness amongst the younger audience on the history and symbolism of the poppy and the Armed Forces – It’s important that younger people are continually educated on the importance of the ultimate sacrifice made to allow us all to have a life of freedom. Getting kids involved with the Poppies4Kits is a great way of encouraging participation as well as education.
- Convenience and cost-saving – Traditional woven badges being sewn on to kits can be both a costly a time-consuming task. Poppies4Kits eliminates this problem by providing a time saving and cost-effective alternative, making the poppy appeal accessible to football teams of all levels.
Due to increasing year on year demand, early purchase is encouraged to avoid disappointment.
