Frank Lampard is still waiting for Chelsea to come to the negotiating table to offer him a new contract as he enters into his final year with the London club.

He has said that he would like to end his footballing career with Chelsea and feels he can play at the top level for a few more years. He also illustrates that when he was younger the club would come and talk to him three years before his contract ran out, but now he is still waiting to hear from them.
The 34 year old is undoubtedly nearing the end of his career and it is very rare for outfield players to remain in top flight first team football when they are over 36.
Lampard’s career has never left London, apart from a brief loan spell to Swansea in 1995 where he made nine appearances.
He began his career kicking footballs at West Ham, joining their youth programme in 1995 and making his first team debut in 1996, where he remained until 2001 when he was sold after 128 appearances and 28 goals. Chelsea bought him for £11million in 20012 and he has never played anywhere since.
Having spent most of his career in Chelsea’s football kit it is understandable for him to want to end his career there. He has won many football medals and football trophies whilst at the Blues, including the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history last year.
He has been able to hold the FA Cup and the Premier League and has been one of Chelsea’s mode important players since Zola, not to mention being a household name and featuring on a myriad of football accessories the world over.
But as Lampard says himself there is a lot of exciting young talent coming through, and with Lampard only having two perhaps three years left in him, Roman Abramovich could seek to phase him out in favour of a younger model.
