Play Like Poland – Star Man: Lewandowski
1. Finishing
- 2 goals, 4 gates, 1 pole/2 teams
- Players have 1 football each
- Player 1 runs with the ball, once passed the half way line they can shoot
- As soon as the shot has been taken the first player from gate 2 attacks the opposite goal. Player 1 must recover around the back of the pole and try and put pressure on the attacker.
- RULE: shoot/defend/collect ball/re-join same queue
- From gates 1 + 2 = right foot only
- Gates 3 + 4 = left foot only
- COMPETITION: first team to 5 goals wins
Key Tips
- Run with the ball – eyes up (assess goalkeeper’s starting position)
- Shoot across the goal
- Be fast on the transition from queue/attack and attack to defence
- Strike with the laces where appropriate
2. 1 v 1
- 4 poles/1 goal/1 goalkeeper
- 1 v 1
- Coach calls a number between 1 and 4
- The feeder associated with the number must pass to the attacker who looks to finish
- If the defender wins’ possession they can score into the same goal
- Each attacker gets 4 attempts
- Players rotate roles x 2
Key Tips
- Feeders play with their eyes up
- Attackers create space with clever/dynamic movement
- Choose the foot furthest away from the defender to shoot with
- If the attacker cannot finish off 1 touch encourage them to face the defender in a 1 v 1 situation and look to beat them
- Defend well/spoil the ball/win it clearly and counter attack
- Use the defender as a blocker to the sight of the goalkeeper
- Finish into the corners
3. Small Pitch Game
- Short but wide pitch
- 2 goals/2 teams
- Balls in each goal for high tempo
- First team to 5 goals
