It’s all gone wrong for Harry Redknapp recently.
What now for Harry and Tottenham?
Not long ago his future looked very rosy indeed. On February 8th Tottenham were third in the league at one point, 10 points ahead of Arsenal, he emerged as the favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England chief, and then Redknapp was cleared of tax evasion on February 28th.
It all went downhill from there though. Turns out that he was very much the favoured choice of the papers, internet and the fans, but not the FA. They said that they never considered Harry for the job. And in a recent conversation as a Euro 2012 pundit he said that if he was offered the England job he would have taken it.
Not only was Roy Hodgson appointed after he was said to be a shoe-in, he then hit a lull with Spurs, winning just four of the last 13 games of the season, which saw Arsenal pip Spurs to the fourth place post at the death despite scoring 20 goals and getting 20 points.
Then, as if things weren’t bad enough, Chelsea’s Champions League success saw them take the final place in Europe’s top club competition for next year, despite finishing below Spurs.
On June 5th Redknapp himself said: “It is not a case of me looking for security. What it is about is players knowing you have only got year left on your contract and knowing that it doesn’t work, basically. I think it’s a situation of, ‘well, he might not be here next year’. It’s up to Tottenham. If they think I’m OK and that I have done a decent job and deserve an extension, they will give it to me. If Daniel [Levy, Tottenham’s chairman] does not think I’m worth it, that’s up to him, that’s up to the club. There’s nothing I can do about it.”
Those fatal words. He has won no football medals and no football trophies. Failing to get into Europe has left him tangled in Spurs’ football nets.
Sadly for Redknapp it seems as though Levy didn’t feel he’d done an OK or decent enough job.

In the rest of the footballing world Redknapp is held in high regard and shouldn’t find it tricky to get a new job at another strong club. Tottenham though now have to find a manager who is better than Redknapp in order to justify a decision that is seen as idiotic by many.
RT @piersmorgan:Spursgetting rid of Harry Redknapp is, even by their standards, unbelievable idiocy. <For once, you are spot on
